Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Information

Definitions
HHW Household Hazardous Waste
Examples of HHW are certain paints, stains and varnishes; cleaners, polishes; automotive products, pesticides and fertilizers. Even certain electronics such as televisions and computer monitors contain hazardous components. Household hazardous waste includes items that have the words “warning,” “danger,” “toxic,” “corrosive,” “irritant,” “flammable” or “caution” on their labels. These items become “household hazardous waste” (HWW) when they are no longer usable or no longer wanted.

Fort Bend County HHW Program
The Environmental/Recycling Center is located at 1200 Blume Road in Rosenberg, Texas.

The Center accepts HHW items during these hours: Every Monday, open Tuesday if Monday is a holiday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. First Saturday of each month from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Harris County HHW Program
Harris County holds approximately ten (10) one-day drop-off events for Household Hazardous Waste throughout Harris County each year. The events are typically held during the spring and fall season, and are free to all residents of Harris County.

Residents may bring household quantities of paint products, pesticides, fertilizers, motor oil, gasoline, pool chemicals, household cleaners, aerosols, batteries and automotive tires (5 per household).

Used electronics such as televisions, computers, word processors, printers, scanners, fax machines, cellular phones, VCRs, stereos and other small personal electronics are also accepted. Residents may bring up to five (5) of each of these items.

City of Houston residents do not need a Harris County voucher and may use these facilities free of charge by presenting a current water bill and matching driver’s license.

City of Houston HHW Program
Westpark Consumer Recycling Center is located at 5900 Westpark in Houston, Texas.

Hours of Operation: Monday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The items that this facility collects are tires, BOPA, and Scrap Electronics recycling. No Harris County voucher, water bill or identification is needed to use this facility.
